Central European Competition Initiative (CECI)
On 3rd April 2003, the representatives of five antimonopoly authorities from the central European countries (the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland and Hungary) signed a declaration on co-operation. It is supposed to enhance the exchange of experience in competition protection and the organisation of common actions, such as conferences and trainings. Two meetings have been held under the initiative so far.
The first took place on 27th June 2003 in Budapest (Hungary) and concerned antimonopoly proceedings carried out with relation to agreements concluded by under the initiative various professional groups and their codes of good practice.
The other was a seminar initiated by the OCCP on investigation techniques and cartel proceedings organised on 18th and 19th April 2004. Experts from Great Britain and Sweden were among the invited guests. Representatives of authorities participating in CECI presented case studies on investigation techniques and practical solutions for the application of leniency programme (programme of mitigating punishment).
