New Vice President appointed for the OCCP

Prime Minister Donald Tusk appointed Ms Małgorzata Kozak Vice President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection

Małgorzata Kozak has graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration of Warsaw University; she has also completed the Main Course of British and European Law at the British Centre for English and European Legal Studies of Warsaw University. In 2001 she completed a postgraduate course on the Economic Problems in the Energy Sector at the Warsaw School of Economics and in 2003 – the European Integration Programme run by the Polish National School of Public Administration and École Nationale d'Administration. Since November 2005 she has been a certified civil servant.

From August 1998 up until her appointment as Vice-President of the OCCP, Ms Kozak was working at the Energy Regualtory Office (ERO) – first at the ERO’s Central Division, and from July 2002 at the Department of European Integration and Comparative Studies. From 2005, Ms Kozak represented the President of the ERO in the Council of European Energy Regulators and the European Regulators Group for Electricity and Gas. From December 2006 she was the ERO’s Director General. As Vice President of the OCCP, Małgorzata Kozak will be directly responsible for the operations of the Department of Market Surveillance and the Department of State Aid Monitoring.

Małgorzata Kozak is an author of a number of publications devoted to the functioning of competition on the electricity market. She speaks fluent English.

According to the Act on competition and Consumer Protection, Vice Presidents of the OCCP are appointed by the Prime Minister on request from the President of the OCCP and selected from among the members of the State Staffing Pool, i.e. persons who have fulfilled the necessary requirements to be appointed for high-ranking public offices.
