OCCP and Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation: co-operation agreement

2006-01-27

On 19th January 2006 the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection signed a Co-operation Programme for the years 2006-2007 with the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation

The agreement will constitute a platform for exchange of experiences between the competition protection bodies of Poland and Russia. It will enable mutual notification of antimonopoly proceedings conducted by the OCCP and FAS as well as of jurisdiction of domestic courts within the competence of the two institutions.

The co-operation with the Russian counterpart will allow the Polish office to, among others, gain access to the FSA expert evaluations and market analyses. It is particularly vital in the era of globalisation, of which one of the consequences is the use of illegal anticompetitive practices by the international corporations that operate beyond the borders of one country.

The Co-operation Programme will also facilitate the organisation of study visits for experts of the two institutions and the exchange of training materials.

The agreement of 19th January 2006 is not the first document to form a basis of co-operation between the Polish and Russian competition protection organs. The first programme in the same area was signed in 1994.
